A STUDENTS PAINTING
Here is a pic of a student's painting taken at the workshop yesterday. The student, Paul Bennett was an invited guest at the workshop and is doing an article on me. I think his painting turned out wonderfully and I think he's happy to. Hope he leaves it alone.

Korea - Woman Cleaning Fish
I really liked the subject of this photo, from our Korean trip in 2006. Despite my attempts to paint more freely, I seem to be a bit of a detail person - never mind, I'm still new to this, and I'm still learning to use Brian's 7-step process. This took me about 5 hours. - Chris

Freedom
These thoughts came to me today...thought I'd like to share them:
The day we take our hands off ourselves, and begin to free our minds and hearts from our self-imposed constraints, limitations and ideas about what is right and good in painting, we begin to find the voice of our own authenticity, our own unique expression. When translated into paint, it gives others that same freedom and joy we experienced in creating it. Our work then takes on life and those qualities of 'being' that we are uncovering within ourselves.
I hope my day arrives soon!

Spectacular shadows and highlights in this view of Arches National Park - I hope I did it justice. Tried to keep it more abstract. - Chris

SW LANDSCAPE STUDY
Utah - Bryce Canyon
After a long break from painting, was eager to get back to it. We were just stunned by the multicoloured hoodoos in Bryce Canyon - difficult to give the impression of all the striations and jagged rocks while not focussing on the details. - Chris
