Spring Fortune

Here is another I did in my workshop. I chose a subject that I was familar with in order to concentrate on the application, rather than the composition, value etc. 've been extremely pleased with this medium, and plan on working in it alot more. I like the way my "structure" is loosened.16X20 Encaustic on board. PS Brian will that mean I am booted of the blog because I'm not in acrylics??

Gondola

Step 7 done today...I am happy with the end result! - it finally grew on both of us as we looked at it yesterday and today. It's sitting on my mantel for a few days for me to "look at" and I'm looking forward to starting another one when I get back from Kelowna, next week. Thank you Brian for another great weekend; it was a great group. I saw the 5-day, May 11-15'09 and hinted what an awesome bday present (i'm may 7th). All comments welcomed, acrylic on 24x36 - PS: We have to figure out the lighting situation in my room; halogen lights. Any suggestions would be great! Sharka

Brian, here's the painting with an attempt at incorporating your suggestions. See what you think. By the way, you need to send me a bill for all your help!  I really do appreciate it.

Steven's Painting

I hope Steven doesn't mind... I'm posting this painting of his. He's done a few with the pallet knife that are just amazing. This one is 24"x36" in acrylic. In person, you really see all that thick paint.

Still Life on French Easel

Here's an 18x24" acrylic still life I set up with my wife's birthday flowers. I had fun painting it. When I finished, I wondered if purple was the best choice in the background... maybe I just don't see much purple in paintings and so it seems unusual.

Hello Bloggers,

Wow, that message I left on my last post gave me the idea to check the blog out on another monitor. I have been sooooo frustrated with colour!! Well I have a great monitor (I rarely use and forgot about)Oh my God it's like someone lifted the hazy film off of my eyes. All the posts look so much better, and I can't believe the difference it makes.

Turning Revised

Thanks for your imput Brian and Elliot. I tried to make it work at both a 30 foot viewing distance and a 10 foot. I needed to add more definition/clarity, and although I perfered the former, I think the viewer may perfer the latter.
