Korea - Woman Cleaning Fish

acrylic on canvas board, 12 x 16

I really liked the subject of this photo, from our Korean trip in 2006. Despite my attempts to paint more freely, I seem to be a bit of a detail person - never mind, I'm still new to this, and I'm still learning to use Brian's 7-step process. This took me about 5 hours. - Chris

  1. Very engaging piece here Chris! I love the abstraction and the blues throughout and the variety of shapes, brush strokes etc. A pretty small painting for 5 hours work....but nonetheless, it looks great. Brian

  2. Thanks Brian. I suspect it wouldn't have taken much longer with a bigger painting - just bigger strokes with bigger brushes, I was using pretty fine brushes on such a small canvas. It's just that we have loads of small canvasses lying around and I figure it's a good use of them for me to be experimenting. I'll try some bigger ones and see if my approach is forced to change a bit. Chris
