Exciting News!

Just wanted to share some good news! Quarto Publishing Group from London England has asked me to do an acrylic painting book for them. I have 2 weeks to get the synopsis of the new book completed , then do 3 presentation spreads for their company for the Frankfurt Book Fair in October. Never thought I'd be doing a second book and this time with a big publisher! An exciting little project for me! Brian

Birch Trees at Sunset

Hi, I attended Brian's workshop - fabulous weekend - back in June and this is my third painting, but my first time posting to the blog. This is an acrylic on 24x30 canvas. I'm still learning the process, but am happy with the results so far. The photo shows a little more yellow tone than the painting really has . Comments are welcomed. Thanks Sharka

JOE'S PAINTING OF BLUEBERRIES

This is a lovely little painting by my friend Joe, from the recent Boone, NC Workshop. He is a food specialist and consultant. I was amazed at the terrific job he did on this one. The photo he worked from is above the painting. I think the painting was a 16x20" or 18x24" acrylic on canvas......Brian

BEETLEJUICE

Just got back from Boone, North Carolina, where we did 2 workshops back to back for the folks down there. They all had done the original workshop last year, so the two workshops were refresher workshops. One of the exercises during the workshops was for the people to paint a portrait, picked from random photos. This one was done by my friend Richard, an Irish chap. The people had 45 minutes to complete the painting from the photo......This is a painting done from a black and white photo of me and I just loved it! Although Richard didn't think it was that great, I had to disagree with him. The simplicity, color, and child-like naievity of this blew me over. I often tell new painters that they don't know when its good and I think that is definately true in this case. This is an acrylic 16x20" done on masonite, and hope you all like it. Thanks Richards, for letting me post this.
Thanks also to all the folks in Boone, Page, Steve, Joanna, Elliot and the rest who made it possible for me to go there and work with them. Wonderful people, my home away from home. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends down there. I will post more work from Boone from time to time.

Hi All,
This is my first time ever for blogging and my first painting using Brian's methods - hope I am doing alright on both counts.
It took me waaay too long to finish this, mostly because I had to stop to deal with on-going issues of post K here in New Orleans ... then my inner critic had a field day and then I lost the values. In other words, I got stuck. Thanks to Brian for his generous encouragement and advice, I reestablished some priorities and moved forward and have since done two more pictures.
Would love some advice and suggestions. Dixy

At last...

I finally put paint to canvas! It's been a while so this was kind of a warm up. This is a little 11x14. I like it OK. I think it looks pretty painterly for me. Not loving the white truck, it looks a little flat to me. Would love some feedback.

Seascape

'Devil's Saddle' by Sophia

40 x 60 cm

Acrylic on canvas

This is one of my first paintings using Brian's method. (Thanks Brian!) Worked a treat I think as I'm completely happy with what was created. I've never painted seascape before so I was a touch nervous until I let it go and fell into a flow. I loved the photo I used as a reference so painting it came easy. I'd appreciate your views on my 'funscape'. Thanks for looking!

PREGNANT GOAT

Took my grandson to the petting zoo before dinner tonight and got some great pics of different animals. Did this one tonight...16x20" oil/canvas....comments welcomed. Brian
