My wife was kind enough to sit for this one. It's 16x20". I did it quickly... probably 50 mins or so. It was the 2nd portrait I've done and first from life. There are things I like about it and things I don't. Would love some feedback.
Love the colors and brushwork here Elliot.. in some ways it looks like Joanna, but if I just saw the picture without knowing who painted it, I would not guess that it was her, very hard to paint the wife, difficult to get away from what you know and paint only what you see! The longer I look though, the more it seems like her????? I would try some more Elliot and see if you can completely get away from "eye", "nose" "mouth" and your "knowing her" and simply record the shapes and values that make up the face, as see what happens. Love how painterly this is and those colors rock!
