We are in the middle of summer with drought, wild fires and floods, depending on where you live.
Its been several months since I last posted here, but I look in from time to time and enjoy the paintings
This on-location landscape painting is oil on 11"x14" canvas sheet. The old house overlooks the Swan River near Guildford in Western Australia. Painted in bright sunlight

San Miguel de Allende
Hi again. This is the last one from last year; another Mexico scene. It's very imprecise and I'm wondering if I should try to be more accurate with the images. It doesn't show up in flowers but in buildings it's obvious when things aren't very exact. Thanks in advance for your helpful comments.

Swan Lake Evening
Wednesday, January 10, 2007
Hi again. Thanks so much for your encouragement. I was afraid to look at the comments at first. Here are 3 paintings of flower macros taken from a gardening magazine (with my new camera I will be able to take my own pictures this year). They are 8 x 8 and 8 x 10's, acrylic on masonite. There are several paintings under each one as I keep painting over old work for the practice so obviously, these are the most recent.

Hello everyone. This is my first post. I would like to have some comments on my first painting attempts from last year to get some direction for the few months I have to paint this winter. This picture (18 x 24, acrylic on canvas) is admittedly very simple. In Mexico some time ago I took a series of door pictures. Along walled, hilly streets only the doors and exposed wiring was visible to make a statement about the occupants. On brief occasions when a door opened, sometimes lush, beautiful courtyards would be exposed. We were always wondering what was behind each door.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year to all,
This year I am looking forward to advancing my art and learning more. There is so much to learn and absorbe and the journey is what excites me the most, (though selling a painting now and then is sure a high)!
I have made more painting en plein air one of my many goals for 2007. However creating a body of work will continue to keep me busy I'm sure.
Looking forward to veiwing more new works from everyone and wishing you all much success in 2007.
How are all of you photographing your work and are you happy with the results? My process tends to give inconsistant results. Certain colours tend to be more difficult than others, blue seems to overpower the results at times. I am using a digital indoors with natural light on overcast days. It often works well but is inconsistant.
I welcome any suggestions.
all the best in 2007,
Jeffrey
