Hi again. Thanks so much for your encouragement. I was afraid to look at the comments at first. Here are 3 paintings of flower macros taken from a gardening magazine (with my new camera I will be able to take my own pictures this year). They are 8 x 8 and 8 x 10's, acrylic on masonite. There are several paintings under each one as I keep painting over old work for the practice so obviously, these are the most recent.

  1. Hi Paula, I really like the two with the pink flowers. Very striking! The first one though, the white center of the flower is too white and chalky and it kills the other beutiful colours. If you could tone that white down by darkening it or graying it a bit, I think that paintings colours would just jump out!! My humble opinion of course!

  2. Hi Paula,

Nice play of light on the leaves of the top painting. I like the way you brought some light affects into some of the petals in the bottom painting. Maybe try being bolder with that? Good stuff!

  3. Hi Paula,
How wonderful to see so many flowers in bloom in January! The first painting's leaves capture the light and the red and green look great. I found that painting from my own photos does feel more exciting because the personal association that I have experienced while photographing the subject, (hopefully), transfers to my painting. I look forward to seeing your paintings from your photos!
