Elliot! This is a picture I took yesterday at suppertime. I will painting it later on, but if you or anybody else wants to give it a try be my guest. Happy painting!
Elliot! This is the Photo that was used for the painting. As you can see it is very different from the painting. I did the painting 6 or 7 times right on top of each other, till I came up with this one. Not the easiest way to paint. Hope this helps.
18x24" Acrylic on canvas. Finished today. C&C Welcome.
Here's a 16x20" acrylic. Be tough on me with this one Brian--the father of the gal pictured will likely buy it (he hasn't seen it yet) if it's decent.
Wanted to share with fellow struggling painters...
"If you hear a voice within you saying, 'You are not a painter,' then by all means paint ... and that voice will be silenced, but only by working." -- Vincent van Gogh, in a letter to his brother Theo, 28 October 1883.
Hey Brian, I know you have the same camera as me. Under what light do you shoot your paintings? (I shot in outdoor full sun, my guess is you shoot under halogen light) And what setting? Do you do automatic?I for instance shot this close up in the "foliage setting" and it seems to be more true., than the shot below which was automatic. I also shot this one in "super fine" resolution and the other in normal. Sorry as you can tell I am frustrated. Hope your class is going well this weekend, no rush on your reply.
Here's my latest. I haven't done a loose floral since my first workshop with Brian a half a year ago. I had alot of fun. It is so much more beautiful in real life, you can't see half the colours, but after about 6 trys to capture the colours, I gave up. It's 36X48 acrylic
This one done this afternoon, 16x20" acrylic/canvas. Comments welcome. Brian

Here's a 24 x 30" acrylic finished last night. It's a scene from the Biltmore House south of here in the Appalachian Mnts. I struggled with it a bit. Would love some C&C.
This one done today 16x20" acrylic/canvas. A bit disappointed in the photo as it doesn't show all the magenta and cool pinks in, but here it is. Comments welcome. Brian
Hey Fellows, Happy Birthday. I hope you had a great day with lot's of cake and presents and....love. Happy Birthday, from all of your fellow bloggers!!!!
I had a bit of exciting news tonight. I submitted 3 paintings into the Sidney Fine Art Show and all 3 were accepted into the show. This one here, which was on the blog at an earlier date was one of the paintings. It won a "Juror's Choice Award" so I thought I'd share the good news with everyone. Its been many years since I've won anything so its a bit exciting for me as today is my birthday too. It is also my brother Dave's birthday (twins). As you know him from his work posted here as "D. Simons". Thanks , Brian
I took the summer off painting and once the weather turned I got back into it, after few duds produced while I warmed back up, a couple good ones magically appeared. This is one of my grandpas...
