Hello everyone. This is my first post. I would like to have some comments on my first painting attempts from last year to get some direction for the few months I have to paint this winter. This picture (18 x 24, acrylic on canvas) is admittedly very simple. In Mexico some time ago I took a series of door pictures. Along walled, hilly streets only the doors and exposed wiring was visible to make a statement about the occupants. On brief occasions when a door opened, sometimes lush, beautiful courtyards would be exposed. We were always wondering what was behind each door.

  1. Hi Paula, thanks for mustering the courage to post something. The first thing that struck me about this painting was the warmth of it. I really like your limited palette and how everything sits in 2 dimensions. I would like to see some more so I can get a sense of your style, which seems to be quite unique and playful, but its hard to tell with just one image.

  2. Hi Paula,

Your colors are wonderful and very "Mexico". I like the simplicity of the painting. Does it have a title?

    Looking forward to more,

  3. Hey Paula,

Lovely choice of colours. I like the way you made use of the shadows.

I think that shadows really help to give life to simple subjects like this.

    Where in Mexico?
