COFFEE POT & APPLE
Another one this afternoon. Wanted to try a still life, haven't done one in quite some time. Comments welcome. 16x20" oil/canvas ...........Brian
Too funny, I was just checking out the work you have at the Kurbatoff Gallery, and I saw some still lifes. I was surprised as I had never seen any of yours. Which shouldn't surprise me as I've only known you for less than a month! This is great. Love the mauves both in the folds of the fabric as well as in the reflection of the tea pot. I don't know if it's my imagination, but I swear the colours are more sensitive when painting reality, like the back of that apple, and the reflection of it in the pot, needless to say I love it, but that's what I'm into right now. Studying colour. It also looks, confident, loose and relax.
The other thing I feel when I look at it is that the colour seems so "immediate" But without "trying" It's clean crisp and simple. Julie Don't publish this one if you feel it is redundant.
I also like the way you captured the hard reflective surface, and if I'm not mistaken that potis that enameled metal. I like the way you handled the white flecks of that enamel. Julie
Brian I love this! The blue pot with the wonderful red apple is sooo pleasing to the eye. I really want to learnn to do folds in fabric like you have done here. Cheers Page
Hi Brian I am looking at this again this morning. It is lovely. I want you to show me how to paint an apple like that. I also want a lesson on how to do folds in fabric without taking hours to do it. Hugs Page I havn't learned how to put work on the blog so I have to have Elliot here to help me. I will pay attention next time.
Brian, this is my favorite of your most recent ones. I love the reflective, shiny feel of the pot, the brushwork in the apple (I'm looking forward to you teaching us brushstrokes) and the colors in the background. Keep the still life's coming!
Not only do I want to bite the apple -I want to bid on it - Does the bluepot come with it? And the size must be a showstopper.great Brian. This blog is the best thing that's happen to me and all the painters who contribute to it as well I'm sure..............Van
