This is a bigger study, not done, but as far as I can go without the oils getting muddy. May revisit it intwo weeks when it's dry :) A still life, which I like because the colour is so much easier for me to see. I do the value study in acrylic. This one is 16X20 the smallest canvas I had on hand. It's called Black and Blue.....good name hey Brian? I find it a touch stiff not that beautiful, but a valuable study.

  1. This is pretty exciting Julie, at first glance it seemed like nothing special, but the more I look, the more beautiful it is to me. I love the colors and tonal work in this and that blue glass is terrific. Has quite an abstract feel to it, very lovely, Brian

  2. Ya, I'm not all over it as a "picture" or composition, but the blacks are kind of intriging. (or however you spell it. I wish blog had spell check, I always look so much smarter when I have spell check:)) It definately looks better in the photo (one of those) but I have no doubt I could get it to that, if I go back in when it's dry.I wanted to try blacks, and a very dark value. I've got all these great objects around my home for still life. That big onion painting you were talking about, would look great in my place!
