This one was too big and too complicated for me. 16X20 I took the picture this morning, the light was incredibly strong. I don't like working from pictures, I can't see the colour, and they come out like mud. I feel this is a start, I may try to rescue it when it dries in a couple of weeks. I prefered the value study and I am glad I have it as reference to use if I decide to go back in.

  1. Hey Julie, this is great, just need to develop the darks a bit more in the face. Up close , it looks quite painterly, and I love your brush strokes. Brian

  2. Thanks for your words of encouragment. If possible I would like to bring it to the refresher(may even be dry by then) and clean it up. It feels to me like it is at the colour blocking stage, and I'm getting tired of it.

  3. Yeah, if your tired of it , give it a rest for a bit then go back to it. I like it quite a bit, not too much to do to finish it, love the cushions too! Brian

  4. Hi Julie, I really like this one. Me and my husband Elliot have commented recently how we love paintings with strong value contrast and this is a great example of that. Love your value study too. That is always my favorite step personally.
