Forest Colors
20x30" Acrylic on canvas. Done Today. Flash washed it out a little.
Hi Ralph, love the display of color here, does look a bit washed out in the lighter notes. Reminds me of a plush luxurious carpet full of color. Almost abstract and visually exciting. Quite a departure for you! Brian
I think the colors and textures in the foreground work very nicely together, but I find the background (the darker band up the right, into the upper right-hand corner, and along the top) takes away from the rest. I'm not qualified to give advice, but here are two ideas... tone down the red at the top left so it doesn't jump out quite so much and consider some larger brush strokes in the background to differentiate from the foreground.
Hi Ralph, lovely shimmering color reminds me of a Manet. always wanted to get that effect on my landscapes annot been easy. great you got it! happy piece

Great colours Ralph. When you say the perspective may be out, I am confused, as the painting feels very abstract to me, and I can't quite make out anything specific. But that's ok with me.

ReplyDeleteThanks Brian, Elliot!
ReplyDeleteLooks great in real life.
It's the photography causing the distortion.
I guess eventually I will have to learn more about photography.
Perspective could be off a little, I will live with it for awhile before making any changes. Thanks again.
Brian! I notice when you post a 24x30 or a 16x20 it,s the same size. How can I do that?
