  1. Lovely painting Julie...i could'nt make out the details by the image and had to enlarge it to see it properly and do it justice definately. colors are awesome. and the smooth flow with the tiny details way way at the back draws one closer to it. good one!

  2. Very extreme composition but you pulled it. Well balanced. I agree with Asma very exciting when blown up. and photos have a hard time doing a painting justice. Good going Julie Mai!

  3. You're really able to a lot with a little Julie. It's such a simple composition and very limited pallet, but it's still rich and interesting. Are you doing layers of thin paint? One thought... keying your brights up along the horizon might make it even more engaging.

  4. Hello All,
Thanks for all you comments.Yes Elliot. Day one I do value study and layers of glazes. Day two I go in with paint and brush. I had keyed up the horizon behind the bank, but it was an overcast winter day and the value was pretty even. Mind you alot of this is from my memory. In fact the last 4 paintings are from my imagination with a referance photo. But I've been starting to try and recall and paint my impression, rather than document. Funny I didn't even realize that until now.I am craving some good old "look and record" though, and think that will be next.
